Course Reserves in the Music Library
Did you know?
Call numbers and information regarding course reserve materials can be found in the Libraries' Course Reserve Catalog.
Where are they located?
The Music Library's reserve collection is housed in open shelving just in front of the circulation desk. Reserve recordings, however, are shelved behind the desk. In both cases, you need a call number to obtain the item. For recordings, patrons should write down the call number and give this to the desk attendant. For books and scores, patrons can use the call number to find the item on the reserve shelves. Reserve items are arranged by call number and size (regular or Quarto/Folio), much the same way the stacks are arranged elsewhere in the library.
Checking out Reserve items
Reserve books, scores, and LPs can be checked out overnight, AFTER 6:00 PM, Sundays through Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays they can be checked out AFTER 4:00 PM. They are due back an hour after we open the following day (9:00 AM weekdays, 2:00 PM weekends; see our Hours page). CDs can be listened to and videos can be viewed only in the Music Library. Patrons are allowed to check out a maximum of three reserve items at a time (including audiovisual materials, but these only for room use).
